Bicycles and other non-motorised vehicles

At the Sydney Opera House we welcome more than 10,000 visitors each day. Recently we’ve experienced increased pedestrian traffic on site and a rising popularity of bicycles, scooters and skateboards.

As the safety of our patrons and visitors is our first priority all non-motorised vehicles including, but not limited to, bicycles (including commercial bicycle tours and hired bicycles), segways, skateboards and scooters must be dismounted at the Opera House site boundary, and safely walked, carried or parked while on site.

Our staff will be asking riders to dismount while on the Opera House site and these requests will be made under section 4 of the Sydney Opera House Trust By-law 2015 and compliance is mandatory. Penalties for non-compliance may apply.

This change will not apply to prams, wheelchairs or other mobility aides.

The Opera House continues to promote and support sustainable transport by providing facilities on site to safely park bikes while visitors and patrons enjoy their visit.
